Women’s Health Care: Fertility & Reproductive EndocrinologyA woman’s primary gynecologist can usually successfully treat problems related to the reproductive system. Sometimes, however, difficult or persistent problems require the expertise of a sub-specialist. Thanks to research advances at Women’s Health Care and other medical centers around the world, these difficult problems can now often be treated successfully. The Women’s Health Care Fertility Program offers the latest technologies for the evaluation and treatment of infertility problems and reproductive endocrinologic problems, including problems with menstruation, menopause, premenstrual syndrome, breast discharge, excessive hair growth and other hormonal problems that affect the reproductive tract. Lawrence S. Amesse, M.D., Ph.D., M.M.M., HCLD, Medical DirectorDr. Amesse is board certified in reproductive endocrinology and obstetrics and gynecology and credentialed by the American Board of Bioanalysis as a High Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD). He received fertility specialty training from the National Institutes of Health and Yale University School of Medicine. He also directs the Wright State Physicians Andrology Laboratory. He has been treating fertility patients at Miami Valley Hospital for 13 years. Glen E. Hofmann, M.D., Ph.D., Medical Director, Bethesda Center for Reproductive Health and FertilityDr. Hofmann is board certified in reproductive endocrinology and obstetrics and gynecology and has trained and worked at two of the leading institutes in the world for assisted reproductive technologies: Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine in Norfolk, Va. Mazen Elias Abdallah, M.D., Physician, Bethesda Center for Reproductive Health and FertilityBoard certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Abdallah completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit Medical Center. He followed his residency with a fellowship at Wayne State University in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. What Treatments Are Available?
When should I see a sub-specialist?Your gynecologist will consult with you to determine when referral to a reproductive endocrinologist is appropriate. What doctors will I see?At Women’s Health Care, our physician staff includes two reproductive endocrinologists who are highly skilled and experienced in the evaluation and treatment of fertility and hormonal problems. You will be seen in a private practice setting by a physician who is nationally known and a faculty member at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.
