What should you expect during your consultation?

Our doctors realize that good communication with their patients can be as important as their surgical skills for achieving successful surgical results and patient satisfaction. They encourage their patients to talk openly about what changes and expectations they would like to see from surgery. Our doctors thoroughly explain what cosmetic surgery can and cannot do and they like to make sure that all patients realistically understand the potential outcomes.

We talk to the patient about fees and pre- and post-operative instructions, take photos, discuss financing options and a surgery date, and provide the opportunity for the patient to review photos of "before" and "after" examples of surgeries of previous patients.

Where do our doctors perform surgery?

Our doctors have privileges at Miami Valley Hospital, Miami Valley Hospital South, Good Samaritan Hospital and Good Samaritan North Surgery Center. The decision as to where a patient has surgery is made based on each individual patient and his or her circumstances. We try to be as flexible as possible. Typically, surgery is performed at the facility where it is the most economical for the patient.

What questions should you ask during the consultation?

  • Are you board certified? If yes, by whom and in what specialty?
  • How long will the procedure take?
  • What kind of anesthesia will be used?
  • What type of pain management do you offer?
  • What are the risks and complications of the surgery?
  • How many of these surgeries have you done?
  • What do I have to do after surgery?
  • How long will I be off work?
  • Can I see before and after photos?
  • Do you have financing or payment plans?
  • How long will it take to schedule surgery?

These are just a few questions that our doctors will address during their time with you, the patient. With 10 years of experience and surgical training, they make sure that each and every patient has the proper education and information to be able to make an informed decision about surgically enhancing his or her appearance. Not all offices do consultations in the same way; in some offices, you will not meet the doctor at the first visit. At our office your appointment is scheduled for at least 30 minutes. We feel that it is important for the doctor and patient to have this bonding time to form a relationship. If, after talking to the doctor, you have more questions, our patient coordinator is available to talk to you. This may be done at the time of the consult, over the phone, or at a different appointment that can be made with the coordinator. All of our patients will see the doctor again before they have surgery. We do not charge for a consultation; however, these appointments are booked for a long time. If you feel that you will be unable to make your appointment, the courtesy of a phone call is greatly appreciated.

Cosmetic surgery is not covered under any insurance plans and therefore is considered as "self pay." Our financial policy will be discussed with each patient on the first visit.

Patients who have had bariatric surgery: Your insurance will pay for a consultation, so you will pay your co-pay at the time of your visit. Quotes will be given at the time of your free cosmetic consultation. Any other questions about insurance will be addressed by the patient coordinator on an individual basis.

Cosmetic Insurance

Our office carries an added insurance policy on all patients who have a cosmetic procedure done with us. This policy, called CosmetAssure, covers patients in the event that they would have to be admitted to the hospital for some type of complication. Although we have not had to use this policy, it helps our patients to feel safe and protected, which, at all times is our main goal.
